One of the many special features of documenta is that a new artistic director has been appointed for each exhibition since 1972. With ruangrupa, a group of artists and creatives is taking on this task for the first time at documenta fifteen. The collective, which originates from Indonesia, was founded in 2000, runs an art space in Jakarta, and has made a name for itself internationally with the collaborative organization of art projects and numerous publications.
