For more than 300 years, the world-famous baroque fountains in the Wilhelmshöhe mountain park with its Hercules, whose unique park landscape has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013, have also been fascinating visitors.
The thoroughly "fairytale landscapes" underscore the history of the Brothers Grimm, who spent an important part of their lives in Kassel. It is therefore not surprising that since summer 2015 the new GRIMM WORLD has fascinated many thousands of visitors.
You can discover the cultural heritage of the Grimm Brothers especially along the German Fairy Tale Route and the North Hesse Fairy tale land. The German Fairy Tale Route has a stop at the Hütt Brewery in Baunatal. This is where Dorothea Viehmann grew up, she was the innkeeper’s daughter from whom the Grimm brothers learned about many of the fairy tales to be found in their collection.
In Guntershausen district, cyclists take on the well-developed Ederauenweg which leads through the Fulda Cycle Route R1 and along the Weser to the North Sea. The unspoilt river scenery, castles and picturesque village centers make cycling here a unique experience.
